I’m in the process of re-doing my office. What do you have in your office or on your desk? I’d like to keep it professional but not boring. Any ideas?

people seem to enjoy my candy dish. in my case it looks like the red m&m character and you remove his hat to get to the treats.

Looking around my desk I see… a poster of Mario and Luigi, a Chicago Cubs banner (for some reason I don’t think that?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s going to fly in Brooklyn), some family pictures, a Raphael (of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Pez dispenser, and of course?¢‚Ǩ¬¶ a wooden Klog.

It is hard to go wrong with the magic 8 ball. It can come in useful when someone asks for a vacation at the most inopportune time. You can ask the 8 ball…… “Try again later”, “It is difficult to determine”, etc. Although I never used it on clients, I can imagine that it could be funny in the right circumstance.
Little games like the rubics cube are also good so when you have to take a call and you have someone meeting with you in your office, they can play with the game instead of directly listen to the conversation.
Other than that, my office is filled with a bunch of paper, pictures, like any other office.

I actually bought a wooden poseable hand for my desk. Don’t ask me why. I suppose it will entertain me while on long conference calls. Or, as Ryan said, to keep others busy.

We have a nice leather couch, and a few photo frames of sites we manage / designed. Good luck with the new office Joe – how about a portrait of Steve Irwin for Alan’s enjoyment when he’s over for the podcast? Crikey! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pa_7P5AbUww)

One thing I’ve liked in a few of my offices is to have an A3 printout of the bullsh1t bingo scorecard…especially good for long conference calls!
