I see it more and more everyday. SEM companies are starting to offer SEO. I first noticed this at SES last year. Companies that were solely SEM the year before, were now offering SEO. Why do suppose that is? As larger companies start battling for keywords, it will force the costs to rise across the board. Which will effect everyone looking to bid on those phrases. That could mean an increase of tens of thousands of dollars on that same list of keywords, if not more.

SEO is the logical solution. Organic listings are relevant and are preferred by surfers. It is also cheaper to maintain than PPC. Large corporations are scrambling to find qualified SEO experts and are willing to pay in the neighborhood of $100,000 a year. There is not certification or accreditation. Which makes it hard to judge who knows what. Experience and a proven track record are a must.

Where do you think SEO is going. Do you think it is smart for companies to focus on PPC or SEO?

How long to you think this need for SEO experts will last?
