Yahoo Answers has a major flaw. The idea behind answers is so that people can ask questions and get answers from other users. However, some of these answers are not correct. Some are guesses at best. It is like the blind leading the blind. Some of these questions could be answered by typing the phrase or question in the search engines.
People who are too lazy to look around the net for answers are asking on Yahoo. Now that Yahoo has allowed these answers to come up in the SERPS is bad news. If the answers to these questions are not correct, people that find the results will have the wrong information.
It may be better to have people verified or certified for a specific area. One person can now answer any question in any category. There was a post asking which SEO company to use to help market a China website in the US. The person who answered, suggested a site that is not even indexed in the engines. Their portfolio lists only 1 client. Not a site I would recommend.
Yahoo needs to come up with a better way to determine who is qualified to answer questions in certain areas. Otherwise Yahoo will be filled with useless crap. If Yahoo is so proud of Yahoo answers, they need to make sure the answers that are give are valid. Otherwise, people may turn away from Yahoo because of the false information.
